My family is from the west coast of Ireland, far away from the English Pale (and that's how I like it!). I married a merchant Englishman just before the Kilkenny statutes were enacted by That Harry, but he is gone. I am being courted by yet another of the English, and my mother thinks that maybe if we marry all the English men that someday they will become sensible and Irish like us. A fair plot, in my estimation.
